The Rev. Mr. Herridge, Presbyterian, preached to a crowded church yesterday on the events of the present session of parliament. While regretting the dis- clogyres that had been made, he severely denounced the exaggerations made by polli- ticians and the press. He did not believe all revelations were of the character assign- ed to them, and he entered his protest against indiscriminate vituperation. There were meu in Ottawa to-day suffer- ing the stigma of the basest imputationa, who, whatever unwise things they may have done, do not deserve that style of con- demnation. We had no right to jump at conclusions or be unduly suspicious. One unjust action is bad enough. To say that it proves the corruption of the whole body politics would be false to the honor of Canada and the cause of truth.
