They could feel the house shake under them. It was a well built house, but now the water was coming down into their little pond with such force that. it was weakening the wells of that house.

Inside their big comfortable liv- ing room was filled with wafer from floor to ceiling. They were completely flooded out. They could go in there hecnus they can swim under water. but they could stay only as long as they could hold their breath. So of course there was nothing for them to go in for now. Part of their food pile had been washed away. That didn't trouble them too much. because with this high wat- er they could swim to some food trees that before the flood had been too far from the water for them to dare to try to cut them. "Look!" cried Paddy.
