The Federal Government recently announced plans ,for a $33 million Opportunities For Youth . program this. summer. Kent Stetson, Project Officer for Prince Edward Island and a graduate of the‘ University of Prince Edward Island, is now. in the Province co-ordinating OFY project proposals for summer "72. , .

Applications are now being accepted for student- sponsored projects representing useful community activity and a valid learning experience for the participants. The maximum duration of a project is four months and should take place between May 15 nd September 15. Salaries for participants may not exceed $90.00 per week. In order to assume a maximum degree of project‘success, OFY believes that in most cases groups submitting projects should be composed of 6 - 15 people.

Basically the same program as last. year’s, OFY is aimed at the 16 - 30 age group. Although students are expected to make up the majority submitting proposms,the pnﬂect a open to any unenuﬁoyed person in this age group.

. Selection of projects by OFY will be based on five general criteria: youth involvement; innovation;

Projects must be planned, administered and evaluated by the students themselves. They are free to con5ult with speCIalists or organizations having interests corre$)onding to theus: but responsduhty for the project rnust at a” tunes remain with the project members.
