As various shades. of colour sre obtained, Black buildings maybe made impervious to moisture, and the fashionable colours of either Free Stone or Granite. The Mstauuic Painns, Purple and med, are offered as Weather and Water proof solely. ‘Vheir base being Iron, se- cures them from Galvanic action so fatal to Jead and other Paints on. Lron. work —~ and their.chemical combination makes it impossible that any change should take place from atwospheric influence, or the action of salt water and. sulphurated hy- drogen, su prevalent in sea ports and tidal harbours. ‘hey. surpass all Paints yet discovered in Cheapness and Durability, which render them pre-eminently adapted to the covering of all kinds of lron work, such as Shipping, Mills, Bridges, Steam Machinery, Railway Cars, and tren Rail- ing. The Merautic Paints have beer nnalysed by Professor Hays of Boston.

The following is an extract from his Cer- tificate:—“ As a permanent pigment, this mineral must rank with the \nrost mdes- tructible and unch mgeuble bases. For co- vering Metallic Ware, its. composition ehews that it is eminently fitted.

Directions.—ArtiriciaL Siate, Mix the powder with pure Boiled Linseed Oi! and a little Spirits of ‘Turpentine to the consistency of very thick paint, and app'y with a common Brush, being careful to keep the mixture well stirred while put- ting iton.. One pound will cover ten square of feet with two coats. >

If shingles have been on for years, it will be necessary to sweep off the moss

and lint with a stiff broom; two or three’

coats of this material will make it a per- fect slate roof, proof against Fire and Water.

The Meraruic Paints are mixed and put on like an ordinary paint.
