A Galt, Ont., circular of the 13th says : The position of our market is unaltered since my report of this day week. The weather is now very warm, varying from 90 te 95 degrees in the shade. Rain is very much needed, and until it does come the newly seeded creps, as well as winter wheat, are in a pre- carious state.

MACKSREL.

The mackere] are gradually werking nerthward -and §if ,the run centinues, as at present, the fishermen will soon be land- ing their captures here. Several fares were run into New York, during the last week, eomprising 75 to 100 barrels eaeh, fresh, and the fish were sold at from 2 te 5 cents apiece. Twotrips of new salt mackerel were also landed, 350 barrels in all, which were seld at $4 to $4.50 per barrel and sent to Philadelphia. At Boston there has been alight business this spring in ail kinds of dry and pickled fish, and priees are about the same as for several weeks past. The only receipts from St. Johnand P. E, L of importance have been 2,325 barrels ot mackerel, which are mestly unfier the con- trol of dealers. A Bosten writer says ‘‘good mackerel are going off pretty well, and if the Provineialists do not send too many this month present prices will be sustained. Large lets ef Nova Seotia medium threes sold at $3.75 to $4.00 per barrel, but hold- ers are not offering many at the first figure. Same year he won the Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland's Third Prize at Aberdecn. Sovereign (814) was got by General Williams (326), which gained the Third Prize at the Highland Society’s Show at Dumfries in 1860, and Second at the same Society’s Show at lerth in 1861. Farmer's Fancy (298) won the First Prize at the High- jand Svuciety’s Show at Glasgow in 1844, and Second at the same Sovicty’s Show at Dum- fries in 1845.

Dam of Barrister, Bounce. She was shown in 1877, at the Worcester Agricultural So- ciety’s Meeting, beld at Kidderminster, and gained the Second Prize. She was also placed Third in the same year at the Royal Society's Meeting, held at Taun on. In 1878 she won the First Prize at the Worcester Agricuitural Society (beating the mare that got First Prize at the same Society the year before.) She was also shown the same year at the Warwick- shire Agricultural Society and gained the First Prize. In 1879 she was not shown, In 1580 she gained the First Prize at the Bath and West of England Meeting, held at Worcester (on that occassion she beat Lord Ellesmere’s Firstand Second Prise mares that won the Royal at Carlisle.) At the Shropshire and West Midland Agricultural society she won the First Prize, At the Great Yorkshire So- clety's meeting, held at Barnsley, she gajned the Second Prize (beating Lord Ellesmere’s Royal mares again.
