The season is late and the promise for wheat considerably below that of » yes: ego; & that thei » at present, fore is, barely aq crop; but ‘the unusual surplus to be carried over would give us abont an average supply for export. It is, as yet, too early to form any trustworthy judgment as to the of the cotton crop;. but such partial indications as are forthcoming point to.the probability of a reduction of acreage Sowie reports covering # limited area have been ished, which show a probable re- duction of about 20 per cent.; but they are of little walue aa showing what may be expected of thé cotton region as a whole. This is s factor to be watched, as there can be no doubt that anotber uine millions crop would be a mational disaster.
