Dear Editor,

Iam writing in response to the ‘‘sports’’ article in the Nov. 14th issue. Iagree 100% with whoever wrote this. Hockey isa terrific sport. I’ve played, myself competitively for 14 yrs. It’s a great way to relieve tension. Where else can you put blades on your feet, take a piece of lumber, and go and beat the crap out of each other? To all those who cringe and think ‘‘ How Barbaric’’

That’s the whole point, to go wild for three hours and then go home to your hot-tub. This is one of lives finer points. But hockey these days is getting to be a pansy’s sport. I am not particularly a Flyers fan but Dave *‘The Hammer’’ Schulty is still my all-time favourite player. I recall a year when after the first period of an exhibition game, the Soviet team took their gear off, got cleaned up, and left. They got thrashed so bad, they were afraid to come back out.

And the Canada Cup this year...? Canada and Finland could have traded sweaters and no-one would have notices. Steve Y. got cut. So what? Mark Messier was picked. Yes, and? BUT WHERE IN THE NAME OF CHRIST WAS WENDEL CLARK? I think a little heart on the ice would have been nice. Diggers is what Canada is all about. None ofthis ont ycloap shit.

P.S. Would some-body please put Patrick Rotton through the boards. At least hang him on the cross- bar. Also in response to ‘‘Sick of the power-trip’’’s statement about the security, I think ‘‘assholes’’ is kind of a meaningless word. I think Moronic, imbe- cilic, incompetent, ivory-tower-dwelling, 12 sandwich eating, idiotic swine is a little more appropriate.

talking about? And is it our courteous, efficient, : obliging and FRIENDLY library staff you are talking © about? Sorry;no sympathy from me--asecondyear © full time student. Hundreds cannot be wrong onthis ~ and one or two hurting people right. Do you need help? Do you have an attitude problem? Seriously, ‘*4th year student,’’ does that type of thing happen to you often--where you feel singularly slighted? Ifso, maybe you need to talk with other students or coun- sellors about it; they may help you see your problem ~ from another angle, and help you now, before you leave U.P.E.I. and carry your problems with you through life. (You seem to make a tragedy from very © little; maybe you are up-tightand needarest) The ~ staff at Robertson Library have been serving our family for many years, and I assure anyone that, NEVER has ANY member of the staff been and different that I have described above --to us. And I have never seen anyone during mymany hours in 2 Robertson Library being treated the way you describe. ‘ Now: for your penance: Just go and work on the 9 other side of the counter in circulation for one--week, 7 while the entire system is being computerized,and remember to SMILE for everyone you encounter.
