Taz Montreal Herald states that the bonds of the ©. P. Railway are now selling in London at 101. The Dominion Govern- ment holds $20,000,000 of these bonds as pert security for its loan to the company. It could by placing these bonds on the market at any time recoup itself for over two-thirds of its loan to the company, and it's not improbable that it may take some such step at a not very distant date, It Would still have all the company’s lands as security for the remainder of the loan.

The Court House was crowded last night to hear Senator Howlan’s explanation of his charts and models of the Subway. John D. Woodman, Esq., occupied the chair., and George R. Montgomery, Secre- tarp.

_ After the Senator finished, —-- Ritchie Esq., moved and Hon. R. B. Reid second. ed & resolution requesting the Dominion Government to caose a survey to be made between the Capes, with a view of consult- ing eminent engineers respecting its feasi- bility, aud the cost of the enterprise, The motion was also discussed at length by the before-named gentlemen, Senator Mont- gomery, Hon. B. Rogers and others.

Che meeting was both enthusiastic and unanimous, and at its close a vote of thanks was proposed by D. Montgomery, Esq., and seconded by John P. Brennan, Esq., to which the Senator responded, ‘hanking his old friopds and neighbors for thei: confidence and kindness.

A despatch from Tzaribrod says that two Bulgarian battalions were defeated to-day by Servians on the road between Busnick and Pernick. The Bulgarians lost 200 killed and wounded. The Servians cap. tured 69 prisoners a d a quantity of am- munition and provisions.

Vienna, Nov. 19. An official Servian report says, accounts telegraphed yesterday that Servian troops menacing Slivenitza were repulsed by the Bulgarians, under the command of Prince Alexander, are false. The Bulgarians suc- ceeded in approaching the Servian position, under cover of heavy fog, but after sharp fighting were repulsed. The Servians drove the Buigarians to the Slaviniji entrench- menis and, in the whole engagement, had 500 men killed and wounded. The recon- noitering force, sent in the direction of Slavinji, skirmished for two hours with Bulgarians, and then retired within the shelter of the Servian lines. Brossis, Nov. 19. The Independence Belge publishes a des- patch from Sofia, stating that the Servians attacked the third Bulgarian regiment es- corting the ambulance train, and bayoneted the wounded soldiers which it contained. The despatch also says that Prince Alex- ander submits to the Sultan, embodied in the latter's reply to the Prince’s appeal for help, and begs the Sultan to sid him at once, ConsTanTINoPLe, Nov. 19. Prince Alexander, in his request to the Porte for help, states thatin compliance with Milan’s demand he has withdrawn Bulgarian troops from Eastern Roumelia. Simiia, Nov. 19. Reliable reports received here state that the Servian loss at Sewintza yesterday was three times greater than that given in ollicial accounts, end actually even oxceeded the previous total loss since the outbreak of hostilities. Prince Alexander was in thickest of battle from begiuning to end. The Servians noticed that he first rode o white horse and afterwards a brown horse, It is believed the white horse was shot under him.

The Short Line. Ortawa, Nov. 19.

The International Railway Company has obtained a contract from the Government to build a short line railway from Montreal via Sherbrook, to ports of St. Andrew’s,St. John and Halifax. The limits of the cun- tract are that the road be commenced six months from date, and completed in four years from July next. The company has among its directors, Messrs. Mcluntyre, Stephen and Angus.

Cenditions of Peace.

The Times says: ‘‘It is reported that Turkey and Servia have agreed to arrange the conditions of peace after the capture of Sofig. Turkey prefers o strong Servia to a Seti Bulgaria, but also desires to save Prince Alexander's position as much as possible. Servia likewise does not wish to personally humble Princo Alexander. '
