*Traveled with the rest of the Executive to Antigonish, Sydney, and Halifax to meet with his coun- terparts in the other Maritime Universities. The weekend was very productive and he made valuable connections

*Attended the Board of Governors Finance and Executive committee meeting over the last two weeks, as well as the Alumni associ- ation board where he proposed a partnership on a fund raising dinner.

*Congratulations to the Wave staff, Shelley and all her volunteers for pulling off a very successful sell out Halloween pub and the tremen- dous effort that everyone put into doing so.

VP FINANCE

¢Met with the SU's auditors to go over last years financial state- ments.

«Accompanied other mem- bers of the executive to UCCB, Dal and St. Mary's over the weekend and gained some valuable information from other student unions' finance people.

*Hiring Board has continued

its meetings.

EXEC VP

eAlso made rounds to other Maritimes universities ion the past week and got a number of good ideas from the other institutions.

*Looking into starting a Student Union tutoring service to expand on the service currently offered by Student Services because he feels that the Student Union could make an important contribution to students in this area.

eThe Mayoral debate unfor- tunately had to be cancelled. Instead each of the four candidates (or their

representatives) submitted an address directed towards the student body. These were issued in pam- phlet form on Nov 2nd and 3rd.

VP ACTIVITIES

*Halloween pub was held on 30 October. The show was sold out and features an AC/DC tribute band that rocked the house. The event went well all around, crowd control was well handled and there was many great costumes.

*The Wave has introduced a new program called Green Mug night. This will be held every Thursday night. Purchase a green 120z Keith's mug for $2.00 and it can be refilled all night for $1.75 a mug.

*Shelley also met with the Dal and St. Mary's executives and discussed how their events were planning an things that they are hop- ing to do in the next couple of months.

*There will also be a campus wide Christmas Ball on November 29th. More details will follow at the next council meeting.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS The Board of Governors

Finance committee was presented at draft copy of the University's finan- cial statements. All numbers are roughly in line with what can be expected when factoring in accept- able growth. Notable is the addi- tional 18 million dollars still main- tained on the books although it is a part of the government package of the AVC $30 Million dollars expan- sion.

*The CARI Project - the rink portion - will open in January. —

MAPUS

°A tree planting ceremony was held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of MAPUS

*The food drive and subway stamp collection are still going strong and donations are still being accepted.

*MAPUS and the Chaplaincy centre will be accepting donations of warm clothing for those in need. Items can be dropped off either directly to the Chaplaincy centre or at the MAPUS offices.

SCIENCE

*The Biology society's pub crawl was very successful.

*Clothes for the society will

be going on sale soon. *There will be movie nights held every two weeks.

EDUCATION

*The Education society and Professors will be holding an open house in Mid November.

The application deadline for the Education Program at UPEI has changed to January 1.

*A pub crawl was held November 7th that was organized as a fund raiser for international stu- dents.

NURSING

The nursing society is now officially up and running.

eA pub craw! for all years was held recently and was a great success.

ARTS

The Psychology society held a joint pub crawl with Math and Computer science.

RESIDENCE

*Met Marc Braithwaite from Food, Residence and Conference Services and discussed some issues

_ plaguing the ResNet service (internet

within residence) and Marc briefed him on what was being done to address the issue.

*Met with Professor Dan Ryan about getting some help with the experimental design process of coming up with a survey designed to see how student feel about various issues in residence.

¢Met with Marc again about the issue of starting a Res Newsletter - something that has been done in the past. .
