E. l. crown as they skated and shot their \vay to an impressive 5-1 victory over Pete Kelly's Red Raiders from the University of New Brunswick. The victory gave them the total goal series by a 10-3 margin having won the opening game in New hunswick by a 5-2 score.

Last night it was the same old ltonv. Saints threw speed and more speed at their opponents and again it paid off dividends. En- illylng a wide margin in the first period of play saints had to be content with a l-all tie as the, visiting goalie rose to goaltending heights to thwart their efforts ‘v0 add to their lead.

They struck in the second canto hr four goals without a return as their attack reached its crescendo and that was the game and series. In the latter half of the third and final session they went out .n search of more goals after being matched check for check in the first ten minutes of the period but ‘this time it was no go as the goalie blocked every attempt as they rodein on top of him at lcast half a dozen times.

Just by that instance it can be seen how the league has tightened up in the past few weeks. At one time it appeared as i! Ray's would literally walk away with the hon- ors but in their last three games the same Millionaires have lost three in a row and it was only their early lead that enabled them to hang on. And it wasn‘t that the Millionaires were slipping any but rather the fact that the other squads showed vast improvement.

In the long run it makes little difference how the final stand- ings turn out. All four teams will enter the playoffs and when the date of these roll around’ basket- ball fans should see the hottest semi-final and final series since the days of the old City Basket- ball League when Hi-Y Grads and Navy were staging sensational tus- sles. All four stand a. chance of coming through with final honors and it is going to prove very. very interesting to see how the teams perform when the "chips"

NEW YORK, March 1-—(CP)—

The New York Rangers provided a stone wall defence through a punch-filled third period to topple the ‘Toronto Maple Ioafs 1-0 to- night in a National Hockey Lea- gue game before 14,916 fans in Madison Square Garden. Jim Henry made a total of 24 saves for Rangers nine of them in the third period when the Leafs poured all their strength in an attempt for one minute close to the close of the game but they failed to break through. Syl Aops missing s golden chance as the game ended when his wild swing at the corner of the Ranger net was knocked aside.
