Srr,—The imhression made by Canadian students abroad, in whatever shool or pro- fession, has always been of the most satis- factory character. Indeed, we have little to regret, and much to be proud of, when the chancellor of one of the largest universi- ties of the United States expresses himself thus,—-‘* Canadian students, asa rule, are above the average, and exhibit an industry and perseverance in their work too often lacking among the young men of our own country.”

In the medical departinent of the Uni- versity of the City of New York, the pre- liminary courses ia history, pathology and practical laboratory work have just been completed, and the list of students success- ful in examinations berets Mr. L.

rehaut, of Murray Harbor South, who matriculated to the University in 1884, was a member of the class, and received two honor certificates; Mr. G. W. Smallwood, of Charlottetown, who is this year complet- ing his course in medicine, aes examinations suceessfully in 1885. In ad- dition, »t close of same year, he passed, with crodit, the three primary branches, viz., au.tomy, physiology «nd chemistry. We are pleased indeed to hear of the sve- cess of these young men; and hope that the remainder of their course will be marked by such tokens as hard earnest work will ever deserve and never fai] to receive.

The schooner Maggie A. for Halifax on the 24th inst., produce. This voyage wiil be her last for the season. The Maggie is known as one of the smartest sailing schooners on the North Side, and there is no doubt but she will make a quick passage.

The sea monster captured here some time since is still on exhibition at Rustico- ville. It has proved so remunerative that the captvrers are pressing their claims. It is to be hoped that nothing serious will ensue in the settlement of so triviai a matier.

Wedding Bells.—Our * mage oad friend, Mr. R. A. Craswell (Blacksmith) has chosen, as a liis partner, one of the most estimable youny ladies of Stanhope, in the person of Miss Maggie M. McMilian. The nuptial ceremony was performed on the evening of the 24th inst., at Point Pleasant Hotel, the residence of the bride’s parents. The happy couple were the recipients of numerous and valuable presents. We cor- dislly and sincerely wish them a pleasant and prosperous journey through life.
