The roomin which he was placed contained two beds. One of the beds was occupied by a young man named Frank O'Hare, the other by Matheson and another. In the morning O'Hare was miss- ing; so also was Matheson’s watch, hat, handkerchief and necktie, as_ well as $4.25 in cash. Search was at once commenced for O Hare and Matheson’s property, but no trace of either could be found. Several tenants arrested at Bodyke for resisting evicting officers, have been sen- _tenced to prison at hard labor for terms | ranging from one to three months. They
were taken to Ennis Station under a heavy | escort of police. people gathered and cheered the prisoners, and the police were ordered to disperse them. They plied their batons so vigorous- ly that several people were severely in- jured.

The Floods Presta, June 19.
Floods in Hungary are subsiding. The towns of Make and Vasashety are out of danger, and if the present dry weather continues the water in the flooded districts will be gone in six weeks. There is great distress among the inhabitants of the in- undated regions, and danger of fever. Fifteen hundred farmers are totally ruined. The entire damage is estimated at $5,000,- 000.

Grant, of this city, had been created by Her Majesty a Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, in recognition of his services to science and the medical pro- fession. Yacht Racing. Lonpon, June 19. The Mersey Yacht Club race between the Thistle and Irix took place yesterday. The start was made at 10.50 a. m. The Thistle finished at 6.44 p. m., several minutes ahead of the Lrix.

A startling shock of earthquake was felt here at 10.35 this morning, accompanied by a prolonged rearing not heard since Octo- ber 22nd of last year.
Pilgrims Drowned. Pesru, June 19. While 250 pilgrims were crossing the Danube the boat was caught in a hurricane and capsized, only a few of the party were saved. Over 100 bodies have been recover- ed.
