With one down and two to go the County annuall meetings seem to be shaping up very well. The meeting at Hunter River had the bes attendance there has been for some time. There was prob ably room for more discussion on the part of the audience on some of the important matters that came up.

The Superintendent of the Ex- perimental Farm added a prac- tical touchrwith his excellent talk on Conservation. The story was told in language that the listeners could understand and it went to the point. The President of the Provincial Federation, Mr. Waugh did an excellent job of explaining where the Federation stands on farm problems and how it can assist farmers in their solution. THE LAST .STRAW

A saying of bygone years to the effect that winter does not come until the swamps are full should now be satisfied. Recent heavy rains coupled with short days and little evaporation reduce the land to a muddy state. Up to the pre- sent the fall may be described as "Open", there has been very little frost and practically no

snow. POWDER SURPLUS

Probably about the most em- barrasing surplus farm product is powdered skim milk. Canada during the past year has built up a large stock pile of this com- modity which is difficult to sell and even difficult to give away. Relief agencies are in a posi- 1ion to handle some of it but somehow money must be found to pay transportation cos-ts. Last spring Ontario Dairy Groups con- tributed six thousand dollars to move powder to India and now Dairy Association on a national basis are making contributions to “CARE” for this purpose. Through the Prince Edward Is- land Dalrymen's Association the Dairymen of this province have contributed one hundred dollars an amount which will move one hundred thousand glasses of milk to the needy children of India.
