The M.A.P.U.S. Connection
for Mature & Part-time Students

Circle Wednesday, March 24th on your calender. Mapus has scheduled this date for their 1999 Annual General Meeting. All mature and part-time students are welcome to attend. Free pizza will be served and there will be lots for everyone. The meeting begins at 12:30. Elections for next year’s ex- ecutive positions will be on the agenda. So far, the nomi- nations that are in indicate that we will have a good slate of candidates to choose from. It is important to find out who these students are since they will represent your concerns and issues at UPEI in the coming year.
Currently, Wylie Hall is the President, James O’Holloran is Secretary Treasurer, John MacBeth is the Student Council Rep. and Liz Statts is Senate Rep. These positions are very im- portant and the people who take the time out of their busy schedules to be a part of this vital organization deserve our ongoing support and appre- ciation.
Wylie has decided not to re-offer as President for the coming term but will remain actively involved in MAPUS as the Past-President. His leadership and support of the executive throughout this

Our joke this week comes from A. Sallam and is entitled “You must work for the government.”
There were two guys working for the city. One would dig a hole, he would dig, dig, dig. The other would come behind him and fill the hole, fill, fill, fill. These two men worked furiosly. One digging a hole, and the other filling it up again.
A man was watching from the sidewalk and couldn’t believe how hard these men were working, but couldn’t understand what they were doing. Finally, he had to ask them.
He said to the hole dig- ger, ‘I appreciate how hard you work, but what are you doing? You dig a hole and your partner comes behind you and fills it up again!”
The hole digger re- plied, “Oh yeah, must look funny, but the guy who plants the trees is sick today.”
On a different note, Robert Frost says that “the chief reason for going to school is to get the impres- sion fixed for life that there is a book side for every- thing.”
