JUDGE MARSHALL—This indefatigable advocate of the Temperance cause delivered an animated and highly inter- esting Lecture on that subject in the Court House last even- ing, to a numerous and respectable audience. The lecture occupied nearly three hours in the delivery,owing to which circumstance, together with the lateness oftbe hour at which the proceedings commenced, (eight o’clock) the principal part of the female auditors, as well as a number of the sterner sex, withdrew before it was concluded. This was much to be regretted, as not to speak of the interruption oc- casioned by the withdrawal of so many persons from time to time, they thereby deprived themselves of a rich intellec- tual treat, such as is seldom to be met with. Notwithstand- ing the lecture was protracted to such a late hour, its interest
