.season has to be the game Sunday afternoon at 1 PM when the Lady Panthers play host to the 4th place squad from Dalhousie.

league encounter against the Mount Allison Angels, UPEE scored a 64—46 vic- tory with Sharron McLure and Sheri Stearns both hitting for 17 points._

Over the weekend the Lady Panthers played two
lexhibition games-in Halifax
against two senior womens basketball teams where they came up with a split. They won\the first 64—51 and lost the second by a narrow margin. In looking for an upset over UNB and Dal, a big game will have to come from Sherri Stearns who is averaging 15.3

bounds. Rbokie Sandra Drysdale will have to come up with one of her high. scoring games; she has wt scored as high as 22 points in a game while

rebound a game average. Well, if you're looking for predictions we beleive the Red Bloomers to be too strong a team for-the Lady Panthers, but in the Dal

will, we believe, pull off' an upset and play the role of‘the spoilers.
Gary Heald and Co. are in UNB against a team which should pose not threat to the Panthers as they, UNB,, have very little in the

and tough shooting guards.
'On Sunday, an important game for the Panther's will be played at 3:00 PM when they are host to the Dal— housie Tigers who are being led by Bob Fagin, the
'league's leading scorer with
a 23.6 points per game av— In their last game in Dalhousie, which the Panthers won in overtime 88-81, Fagin scored 31 points. While Fagin may», be the leading scorer in the league his shooting, percentage has alot to be desired. Fagin tried 39 shots in the game in Dal.

but only hit on 11 of them. The whole key to shutting down Dal's offence is to ’stop Fagin and looking at ‘the tough defence UPEI's has we beleive this is what will happen. Al- though Dalhousie does not have any one big pivot
man they are a team that has most of its players'in
the 6—4 to 6—6 range. This is a very important game so a full house on Sunday at 3 PM would be .im— mensely important.
Looking to the hockey scene UPEI will have play— ed UDEM by printing time but we are confident that we will be writing about

In games over the , weekend UPEI beat MTA 7—4 and lost to Moncton 3—0. In the game in Sackville Lennie Kelly had 2 goals while Val Mitchell, Wilfred MacDonald, Phil
‘ Claybourne, Kenny Burton
and Lorne Carmichel each had one goal. Carmichels goal, his 2nd of the year while being shorthand, came at a time when MT, A. was within one goal of tieing the game up and a panther was serving a 2 minute penalty. UPEI outshot Mt. A. 39—31 in the game with a 20—5 edge taking placeinthe3rd period for UPEI.
Gerald Butler played a solid game while LORNE Carmichel had 3 breakaways which were made possible by his lighting fast breaks from his own end.
In Moncton on Saturday UPEI was defeated 3—0 with Moncton picking “up a goal in each period. Roni' McGinnis played an out—

out of the penalty box which of late he has been doing.
After the two games this weekend Wilfred MacDonald has to be considered for MVP of theleague. He ngS more ice time, 55 minutes, than any other Panther and still plays outstanding hockey all the time. In order to beat Moncton out for 3rd place we must gain 5 out of 6 points in our next 3 games while U. M. must lose all their remaining games.
On another sport note we understnad that bad— minton stars Cutcliffe and McQuad will be re- presenting UPEI in the Inter—Collegiate Maritime Badmiton Finals but we have no date for that as of now. On Radio CIMN this weekend the sports coverage begins at 7 PM in Acadia for the hockey game withthe basketball game being taped and played over CIMN immediately following the hockey broadcast. On Saturday, CIMN will carry live coverage of the SMU — UPEI hockey game. In the top ten rankings UPEI has drop- ped to 8th while St.
Mary's has moved to 10th with Acadia still number one. St. F. X. has
dropped out of the rankings. In hockey St. F. X. is 4th while SMU is 7th.
