T h e Charlottet o w n YMCA placed first in the athletics and second in the beginner and in- termediate swimming sections of the Canadian YMCA's physi- cal education program audit this year. The announcement was made in Toronto recently by J. W. MacVicar. director of phy- sical education of the Canadian National Council of YMCAs.

The audit was carried out in the areas of leadership, begin- ner and a d v a n c e d athletics. swimming. and participat i o h; an is comparative with 19 other YMCA's across Canada with the same facilities.

The local association obtain- ed 9033 points and this is nearly double the Canadian average of 4852 points.

The fitness program at the Charlottetown YMCA is meet- ing with a great deal of success. Such a large number of ladies were attending the “slimnastic” classes held on Tuesday and Thursday nights. that this year more classes had to be organiz- ed for Monday and Wednesday afternoons. ‘

All the classes. both afternoon and evening. are followed by a swim period where instruction is available for both beginner and advanced swimmers.
