' Clements, credit officerI for Prince Edward Island for the Industrial Development Bank of Canada, showed a film which indicated the business loan application procedure of the bank. and gave a talk on the activities of the corporation.

He said that it was formed as a Crown corporation in 1944 as a subsidiary of the Bank of Can- ada and discussed the purpose for which it was set up. He pointed out the various types of businesses which would be able to get loans and stated the con- ditions for approval of the loans.

He said that the IDB was set up mainly to help in the estab- lishment of small businesses and at present the dollar value of loans that have been made is $462,000,000 with loan 5 ranging from $5,000 to $1,000,000.

The average loan made across Canada is $44,000 White the P. E. I. average is $23,000, he said.

also congratulated the club‘s curling team which had won the Bluebird Trophy last Saturday night in Moncton. This trophy is emblematic of Kins- men curling supremacy in the Maritimes. On the team were David Walker, John Bond. Keith Dalziei and Robert G. MacDonald.

Skip Walker presented the trophy to President Yco for safe- keeping for the rest of the year.

Pope John XXIII has con- ferred papal honors on a for- mer Island priest, Rev. John T. Arsenault. pastor of St. Mich- Church, South Berwick. Maine.

He was raised to the rank of Domestic Prelate with the title of Right Reverend Monsignor.

A former resident of St. Louis, he is a cousin of Edward Arsen- ault, Reserve Street, and of Mrs. Nancy Gallant, Peake Street. Charlottetown.

Well Known Carpenter Dies At 89

O'LEARY — William 0. Meg- gison, well known carpenter, died at his home in Knutsford, Saturday morning, March 16, in his 90th year. Mr. Meggison, son of George Eden Meggiscn, was born at Cascumpec, P.E.I., in

1888.

In 1915 he moved to Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where he worked in the shipyards as car- penter and pattern maker. He returned to the Island in 1924 and purchasd a home in Knuts- ford Where he operated a saw-

mill.

He built his first house at Woodstock when he was only 16. and since then had constructed the O'Leary Elementary School, Jelley's department store, and many homes in and around O’Leary. '

He is survived by his third wife, the former Ella Morrison of Coleman: the children of his first wife, the former Margaret Smallman, William L., New George W.. Knutsord:

Jersey; H a z e 1, Gallagher, New Jersey. His se- cond wife was the former Ida MacGregor. A son. Albert was killed overseas in 1918.

The funeral was held Wednes- day afternoon from his late re- sidence in Knutsford where the service was conducted by RAev. Maxwell Nesbitt, assisted by Rev. David Hamilton.

A duet, “Does Jesus Care," was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Nes- bit. I-I mns were, “Someday We'll Understand." and "Be- neath the Cross of Jesus.”
