Sir,—The ‘* Blooming Hope” Lodge of Alexandria, in conjunction with ‘* Ex- icelsior ’ Lodge of Pownal, are bound to ‘make an effort in suppressing the sale of ithe so-called hop beer. Since the old ' Five” has been wiped out two similar ‘shanties have been opened up for the sale ‘of that beastly and degrading beverage, which ruins more young men than any or ‘all of the distilled poisons put together. ‘Committees have been appointed to push ithe work in the vicinity of the above Lodges ‘and man-traps, consisting of the most \faithful and most earnest workers in both /Lodges, for the purpose of suppressing ‘those evils. It is to be hoped that their efforts may prove a success, and that they may succeed in stamping ont those two dens, which are glaring stains upon the surface of the fair settlement in which they have originated.
