The demand of Austria receives the sanction of England and France, and has alreody been made public. To this demand, Mr. Mercy, the United States‘ Secretary, has replied in a letter of no ordinary ability, stoutly maintaining the right of his Country to protedt Kcsata, and justifying the course pursued by Corn. Iagham. The result of this afl'arr will no doubt cause considerable sensation on both sides of the Atlantic; and from the facts already elicited, we think that the American Commodore performed a meritorious act in releasing the unfortunate Hungarian from the crust persecutions of hissnemies.

The following is the substance of Secretary Marcy's letter, which has been telegraphed to the Boston journals.-
