Tur Hose Ree. Wien was Nor Larr. The truckman who hauls the ‘‘ Rollo” engine had his herse at pasture when the alarm of fire was given on Sunday last. The mem bers of the Company did not wait the arrival of the horse, but hauled the hose themselves, and thus proved their energy to be far superior to the members of the ‘*Silsby” Co., whe waited until the arrival of their horse.

Youxe Satmox.—Mr. Henry Clark, Man- ayer of the Dunk River Salmon Hatchery, bas been engayed the past few days in transfer- ring the yeung salmon hatched at that estab- lishment, to the various rivers. ‘The fishery officers in charve state that the Hatchery has been a great success. Half a miilion of fine healthy fry have been already Jet loose in the Dank River, and 100,000 in Trout River, Lot 10. Mr. Clark successfully placed 40,000 in the Morell, yesterday, and was in town to- day, accompanied by the Inspector of Fisner- ies, on their way with a further consignment to another part of the Morell River. We have been informed that there is a demand for salmon fry in the United States and else- where at $10 per 1000, lowest quotations, which would indicate that the successful hatching of nearly three-quarters ef million of fish has already paid, during this first sea- son, the total expense of the Hatchery. Next year the officers hope to lay down from one million to a millien and a-half of eggs.

Tur Teronte Glede’s Ottawa correspond- ent is entirely wrong. Savage Island wa not sold tothe Deminien Government by Mr. Percy Pepe, who is to-day its owner. The land at Cascumpec, which was sold to the Dominion Government, was never owned by-either the Hon. J. C. Pope er his son. The (lobe’s correspondent has evi- dently been led astray by the Putrict.
