juin a été, beaucoup d'éclat, de pompe et de magnificence parce que ce jour est la fête patronale des Canadiens. | Pour nous l’époque n’'évoque au-, cun souvenir historique mais nous | l'avons choisi, ce jour, pour la fête des enfants de notre paroisse.

Dès sept heures du matin, on vo-| yait arriver en foule des voitures chargées d'enfants. Chaque fa-! milles apportait dans un grand pa. nier les mets les plus délicieux que] li mère avait du préparer la veille

Vers huit heures la messe com-! mença. L'église était remplie. Le Rév. J. McDonald de La Gran de Rivière offciait. L'orgue était touché par M. Arsène H. Arse- uault.

La messe fut suivi d’un sermon touchant par le Rév. Thésdore Gaiïlant. Outre les révérends messieurs plus haut mentionnés et M. le curé de la paroisse on remat- le Rév. P. P. Arse-

nault curé de Mont-Carmel, et le Rév. J. McGrath curé de Mis- couche.

Le sermon et la messe finis, on se rendit dans ‘un jardin voisin de l'église et là on exécuta ie pro- gramme paru quelque temps passé, dans les colonnes de L'IMPARTIAL.

Les visiteurs et les parents des | enfants étaient rangés autour de ce jardin. Ils prenaient bien plaisir à voir lutt:r les garçons dans les dif- ferents jeux de la journée.

Vers onze heurs et demi la faim commençait à se faire sentir. On dut donc quittergles jeux pour se)

C'était un beau spectacle que de voir toute une paroisse, dont cha- que famille formait un groupe, s'asseoir à l'ombre du clocher pa- roissial, étalant le contenu de leurs paniers et chacun invitant son voi-
