A TeLecram received by Hon. John Long- worth on Saturday evening, announced the death of Mrs. Robert Longworth. Mrs. Longworth has been for sometime unwell ; but her death was une pected, and the sad news was a sudden blow to her many rela tives and friends.

Tue Grit organs appear to be waking up to the fact that they have lost the sympathy of the young me of the country. If the organs had not been so sleepy they would have found that out longago. A Prcrov correspondent of the St. John “Telegraph ” says:—‘‘ Five young men from Summerside, P. E Island, came over in the “St. Lawrence” to Pictou, on Tuesday, on their wav west. Three go to California— Messrs. Bell, Hall and Howard; the others— Ramaay brothers-to Des Moines. These yeung men have ro definite pursuit in pros- ope but are merely seeking to better their ortune.

Tue steamer ‘‘ Prince Edward” has not yet been heard of, and much anxiety is felt for her safety. She has a crew of twenty-six per- tons including the captain. The } assengers are: Patrick Blake, Esq., C. C., of this city, and Mr. John McGill, brother of Col. Me- Gill. Those who have made trips in the “Prince Edward” say she is a splendid sea boat, and express the opinion that she is de- tained by heavy weather, or, perhaps, an accident to her machinery.

We regret to learn that at noon to-day William H. Findley, Esq.. met with a very serious aceident, under tie following circum. stances: He was in the act of lowering « barrel of apples into the cellar of his dwelling house. On the staira leading into the cellar he slipped and fell to the bottom, his head striking a timber wall and the barrel of apples falling on his body. The injuries re ceived were serious. ; severe scalp wound and internal injuries to bis heal and body. ‘The effects of these caused bim to bleed freely from mouth and ears. Jr. Taylor was called to attend him, and after examination expressed the opinion that although Mr. Findly was seriously hurt, he would soon recover.
