One minute, Rick Hansen was an active, outgoing 15 year old on his way home from a fishing trip; the next, he was, the victim of a tragic motor vehicle accident which left him paralysed from the waist down,

Over 500,000 North Americans suffer from spinal cord injuries. Each year, qnother 25,000 have accidents that paralyse them. Over 50% of those injured are between the ages of 16 and 28.

10 KPH (SMPH) can be the difference between whiplash and spinal cord injury. Spinal cord injuries occur from simple falls, industrial and sporting accidents and diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Motor vehicle accidents account for close to 50% of all spinal cord injuries.
