Scicipe.— Dr. Conroy, Coroner, held an in- nest yesterday on the body otf Margaiet McArthur, of New Haven, a widow about 68 ears of age. Mrs. McArthur had heen mel- ancholy for some months past, and is sup-

d to have committed suicide on Monday by throwing herself into West River. Her body was found yesterday, and Dr. Conroy emmoned. The doctor, when he arrived, empanelled a jury, who returned the verdict, “Suicide by drowning, while temporarily insane.

I. 0. A.—The Grand Orange Lodge of this Province will hold » tea and demon- stration on the Exhibition and Trotting Park grounds, near the city, on Saturday the 12th July next. In addition toa well stocked tea table there will be saloons where refreshments of various kinds will be provided at reasonable rates. There will also be swings, dancing booths and other amusements provided, including a bicycle race. Special rates haye heen ar- ranged for from all stations along the line ot railway.

MvsicaL Review.—A rousical review of the scholars took place at Notre Dame Convent yesterday. Among those present were Mrs. Carvell (wife of Lieatenant-Governor Carveli), Miss Harford, Revs. Cnas. McDonald, J. C. McLean, John J. McDonald and Alex. Me- Aulsy, Prof. Caven, Judge Reddin, and parents and friends of the children. A song of welcome was sung to Mrs. Carveil, Speeches complimenting the children were made by Rev. J. C. McLean, Rev. Chas. Mc- Donald, Prof. Caven and others. Altegether it was a very enjoyable affair, the chidren singing exceptionally well.

Bor Ixzsurep.—As the confectionery

team of Mc. W. A. Hutcheson was being driven along Euston Street near the Sal- vation Army Barracks yesterday, one of the traces broke and the horse took fright sadran away. The two bvys in charge did their best to stop the team, but withuut success. They held on forall they were worth until near Vatcher’s Store on Kent Street, where the wagon collided with a bridge, and one of the lads, Joseph Hughes, was thrown off. The other lad held on until the horse was stopped near P. C. Connolly's, Grafton Sireet. Young Hughes has one wrist fractured, his knee aud shoulder slightly injured, and forehead cut. Dr. Jenkins is giving him every attention. The horse escaped unhurt, and the wagon was not damaged.

The Camp Chaplain, Rev. James Car- rathers, entered upon his duties to-day.

The Y. M. C. A. have fitted up a read- ing room for the use of the men in camp, and persons having good reading matter they do not want will confor a faver by leaving it with the Secretary at the Y. M. dé. roums.

A goodly number of persons visited the camp iast afternoon and evening.

The men in esmp are all in excellent health and spirits.

The matriculation list posted at noon to- day shows that out of seventeen candidates Foster stands second, Andrew fourth, Godfrey fifth, and Cotton sixth. St. Peter's School boys head the whole list in Latin, Greek and English. The first and third places were tukea by engineering can- didates, the first of whom is a German, who speaks French, and gave a perfect paper on modern languages. Otherwise, Foster would have headed the list. Mr. Hunt received congratulations from the Faculty upon the splendid papers of his pupils.

Windsor presented a ijively appearance to-day. ‘The occasion is the commencement of the annma! clusing exercises of King’s College, and also proceedings in connectiun with the centennial of these the oldest col- legiate institutions in the Maritime Prov- inces. To-night the centennial bail is to take place at the college, a very large and brishant assemblage being present. The 78h Band is to turnish music for the dances. The college grounds are very prettily illuminated.

Hon, Mr, Tupper has received letters from the Maritime Provinces, thanking him on behalf of the tishermen for the prompt payment of the fishing bounty claims this year.

Three Rivers’ men are asking the Gov- ernment to grant assistance to an agricul- tural college and experimental farm, to be started there by private enterprise.

Sir John and Lady Thompson, with Douglas Stewart, the Minis‘er’s private secretary, left for England to-day.

Judge Jos. D. Fallon, member of the ‘ Boston School Board for twenty years, tendered his resignation to-night. He is a Catholic, and his resignation is the out- come of the recent adoption by the Board of Sheldon’s History as a public School text beok.

The strike of the building laborers, in progress over a week, ended this afternoon. The Master Builders’ Association voted to grant the advance demanded. This makes the pay 25 cents per hour,
