A Goov Ipra.—New Glasgow has organized a town improvement association. The object of the association is, amongst other things, the improvement and orna- mentation of the streets and public grounds of the town, the planting and cultivation of trees, and the promotion and encourage- ment of horticulture and floriculture. The association is to be incorporated, and to begin operations next season.

Dismissep From Evcenit..—A Windsor deepatch toa Montreal paper says: “A sensation has been been caused bere by the dismissal from Edgehill College of two youngwomen. Bishop Courtney and the governors were summoned to deal with the case and recommended the dismissal. The girls were detected signalling to young men from the windows of the college. One girl belongs to Dartmouth and the other to New Brunswick.”

A Bap Accipext.—The Guardian re- ports that Mr. Michael A. O’Brien, of Appin Road, met witb a painful accident ou Sunday last. The accident was caused by the bursting of a cartridge in his left hand. O’Brien, according to the Guardian, bad removed the caps and charges of shot from two of them, and was engaged on the third with a pocket knife when the point broke off the knife and the cartridge exploded in bis hand, nearly severing the thumb. The knife went through, entering at the third jovnt and coming out imme- diately behind the same knuckle of the little tinger. Some of the shot entered his left side, going no deeper than the skin, and others took a shaving off the left side of the nose, some shot entering the nostril, coming outat the joint passing ovr the eye, and eatering the eyebrow. Drs. Murchison and Robertson were sent fur—the former, living near, wae the first to arrive (in wo hours), and very skilfully stitched up the wounds in the hand, and ex racted several shot from the side and over the left eye of the injured man. He was in a very weak condition through lore of blood when the medical gentleman arrived. The injured man bad almost given himeelf up, but it is hoped he will recover.

GERMANY AND HAYTI, Latter Considers the Fermer’s Demands Too stift,

The exact nature of Germany’s demand oo Hayti became kuown for the first time onthe Ist inst, The details came by way of steamer from Port au Prisce to New York and show the demands to be as fol- lows:—

First, an indemnity of $20,000 for Emil Lueders; second, the promise that Mr. Lue- ders may return to Hayti, and there so- journ without danger of any kind ; third, a letter to the German Goveroment, in which Hayti will express apology for the whole transaction; fourth, that the president of Hayti shall graciously receive the German Charge D’ Affairs at Port au Prince.

It was also announced that if indemnity was not given a warship would be sent or diplomatic relations broken. Without answeringthe demands in detail, Hayti asked if Germany, by presenting this demand, intended to close the negotiations in the Lueders case, and also on what ground an apology was asked.

The money demanded was regarded by Hayti aa far less important than the other three, which were considered ae affecting Hayti’s honor. The demand that the presi— dent receive Count Schwerin graciously was looked upon as involving a deep humiliation, as it was he who had gone before the president and rudely submitted his demands. It waa this fourth demand which led Hayti to prepare for any eventu- ality.

Since the foregoing corres:ondence closed, it has become apparent, according to cable advices from Berlin, that ihe sug- gestion as to the sending of warships has beeu modified, aod that there is no present purpose to send them.
