Pirapep Guitty.—In the case of Sheriff Doucett, of Bathurst, N. B., charged with misdemeanor for unlawfully demanding a let- ter taken from the Little Shippegan post office, a plea of guilty was entered on the 10th ivst., the Sheriff acting on the advice of counsel, Judge Fraser, in sentencing Sheriff Doucett, said that as there had been the fullest enquiry into the case, and it appeared the sheriff believed he was acting legally, he having dis cretion in the matter would impose only a penalty of $50. The fine was paid and the sheriff released,
