During the week a special com- mittee appointed by the Kings and Queens County Federation direct- ors met to discuss with Department of Agridulture officials the Junior Farmers program. as well as Jun- ior Club work on the island, with special reference as to how the whoie policy could be co-ordlnat- ed. The directors. at their last meeting were quite concerned about the Junior Falmers' program and felt that although the officials in charge were doing their best un- der the present policies. that some oha e should be made in the pro- mot ai field.

The committee strongly recom- mended the appointment of full time Agricultural fleldmen for Kings and Prince Counties to pro- vide more intimate contact, and leadership. They also recommended that arrangements be made for some eiopert in this field to come to the island and make a com- plete survey of the whole farm situation as it effects our young people and help establish a. more practical. aggressive. and co-ordin- ated plan in this work. At the time of writing, plans are being made for a joint meeting oi the cllrectols of the Daii'ymens' Association and Creamery manag- ers thxoughout the Province. Prcir irms of cream grading and testing butter storage, advertising, pack- aging etc, are to be discussed.

Several more local meetings have been held during the past we ' tu discuss marketing problems a to explain Federation policies. etc. The membership race between Queens and Prince is running neck and neck with Prince County taking the lead again this past week. There are still a number of districts to be heard from in each County. But. generally speaking. there has been a most satisfactory response from about 80 per cent of the districts.

The first newsletter to the dis- trict delegates will be going out within the next few days.

Farmers who have to buy this seed should watch the quality carefully. There is quite is difference between reg- ista-red seed and different grades There is also some poor quality seed on the market which has not heen inspected or graded. some of this has been grown locally and some of it imported. It is much better to be careful and sure of quality now. than to be faced with is, heavy weed infestation or pcor seed germination later on.
