TOR/ONTO. Jan. 20-(CP) --Gold "stinks of the Toronto mining sec. tlon had another innings today‘ and they pushed along to a new high in the index. Miscellaneous mines firmed also adding a point though base metals were mainly on the down side.

Volume reached 2.950.000 shares.

Th0 bin Bfllds were steady to strong. Little Long Lac burst, into new high ground at 8.15 and held l! 88in of 40 cents at 7.90. Muc- Leod-Cocks-hutt added 25 cents and O'Brien 35.

Federal-Kirkland hit 46 in ti: early trading and closed at 42 for a net gain of 4 cents. A majority of the oils closed higher.

Most of the base metals were quiet with prices showing moderate gains.

LIVESTOCK

MONTREAL, Jan. 20 — (GP) -- Light offeriitgs gave traders little chance to boost prices today on Montreal livestock markets and rates held unchanged for the most part.

Receipts: Cattle 14, calves 49, sheep 81. hogs 90.

Fair to medium quality steers made $5.25 to $5.75. good cows $4, medium cows $3.50, bologna bulls $3 to $3.50.
