Dies Suddenly

. --The sudden death occurred yesterday in the Prince County Hospital of Mn. John Noonan of Summsrslds at the early age of 43 years.

The deceased who was formerly Annie MacDonald, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mac- Donald of Borden. had been in good health up to yesterday noon. On arrival home from her work she collapsed and was taken to the hospital suffering from a stroke from which she never re- gained consciousness.

Her husband predeceased her about two years ago at Borden and she later came to Summer- Iide where she was employed with the firm of R. T. Holman Ltd., in the produce department.

She leaves to mourn one daugh- ter, Patricia, one brother Jack at Borden and two sisters. Joan of Summers c and Mary (M;s. Elmer Roberts of Middleton) to whom sympathy in her sudden passing is extended.

'I'he remains are resting at the Bowness Funeral Home until Thursday morning when they will be taken to Seven Mile Bay Church for Mass on arrival.

Island-Born Wdman Dies In New York

Mrs. Fannie Simpson Taylor. formerly of Malpeque, P.E.I., died Sunday night at her home. 9 St. Bernard St. Saranac Lake, N.Y., following a long illness.

Mrs. Taylor was born on Sept. 21, 1875 in Hamilton, P.E.I., the daughter of William and Sofia Clarke Simpson. She lived most of her life in Malpeque. P.E.I. It was there she married Elmer E. Taylor in 1902. Mrs. Taylor was very active in church and com- munity affairs i.n Malpeque and was a member of the Unied Church of Canada.

Five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Taylor took up residence in Saranac Lake for the winter months. Mrs. Taylor continued her interest in village activities. She was associated with the Saranat Lake Presbyterian Church and the American Red Cross. She was noted for her handicrafts which were many times displayed at the Rehabilitation GuUd's Craft shows in Sarannc Lake.

MONTREAL. (CP)- Bell Tele- phone Company reported Monday that. Montrealers set I new re- cord for outgoing long-distance calls during the six-day Christmas period which ended Sunday. The company said 223.680 calls were placed to out-of-town centres. R,- 942 more than last year. On Christmas Eve 43.633 calls were placed and 43,197 were put through on Christmas Day, bolh new records.

Mrs. Heber Ellis

The death of Mrs. Heber Ellis occurred at the home of her daughter. Mrs. James Dunbar. in Alma. Sunday evening. The form- or Miss Marv England. daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs. Robert England. she was born eighty-nine years ago at Springfield West where she continued to reside un- til about 10 years ago when she and her husband moved to Knut.s- ford. since the death of her hus- band Mrs. Ellis has resided with members of her family and she had planned to spend the winter with Mrs. Dunbar.

Until a week ago she had been in remarkably good health and had a. memory for things of the present as well as of the put that was unusual for a person of

her years. She had a life-long association with the Springfield West Baptist Church of which

she was an active and loyal mem- ber. She was also active in com- munity sffairs. of an industrimis nature. she was an excellent homemaker. skilled in needlework and rugmaklng. She continued to pursue these creative arts until her sight began to fail about two years ago.

Mira. Ellis is survived by the

following sons and daughters: - Mrs. James Dunbar (Hattie) at Alma, Earl Ellis at Wat Cape. Melvin Ellis of Toronto (who ar- rived home Saturday). Mrs. Avard Harris (Etta) at Knutsford. and Mn. Ohsries Rix (Beatrice) at Locke Road: also by eighteen grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. A son, Char- les, predeceased her one and a half years ago. The funeral will be from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Avard Harris. Knutaford. on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. follow- ed by interment in Springfield West Baptist cemetery.-B

Wnodside and for a number of years they attended with success to the ardu- ous duties asoclated with life on a farm. 21 years ago they moved

Deeply devoted to her home and family. coupled with a gracious holpitllity which was flttingly expresed in her warm and hearty welcome, she made and re- tained many deep and abiding friendships. Those who were pri- vileged to share her friendship will always think of her as one worthy of emulation. Throughout the years. was an; enriched and ennobled by the fact that her only son, Rus- sell, at an early age devoted his life to the Christian ministry. and later held important pastorates in different parts of the Maritimes now pastor of the United Church at Bathurst, NB. Her cherished hopes found fruitatinn in his et- tainments. Two years ago it was the happy privolege of the munit-
