The Chuflottz-town Islanders will be seeking to avenge their 8-3 de- test at saint John last Monday night when they clash with the Beavers at the Forum tonight at 3:30 in a Maritime senior Hockey League fixture.

Despite the fact that the locals will be particularly sliorthanded in the defence department in to- night's game with Johnny Duchak. Larry Travis and Phil Vitale all out of action. they are expected to hit the ice in an all-out effort to turn back the Les Ramsay-coached Beavers, and stretch their league leadership another two points over second place Halifax Saint Mary's who will be idle tonight.

Viiale. Bolan W Are Suspended For Three Games

HALIFAX. Dec. '7 - (CF) Judgb .1. Elliott Hudson. president of the Maritime Senior Hockey League, today announced the sus- pension of two players - one from Saint John Beavers and cnc from Charlottetown Islanders-for three games.

Suspended were Eddie Bolan pf Beavers and Phil Vitale of Island- GTS.

Bolan will be ineligible for Ben- vcrs games against Moncton Doc. 7. at C-harlottctoivn Dec. 8 and against Halifax Dec. 11.

Vitals will be out for Islanders games against Saint John Dec. 5 at Halifax Dec, 9 and against Moncton Dec. 11.

The suspensions followed ref:-rec Stan Swain's report of the Char- lottetown-Saint John game at saint John Dec. 4.

Swaln's report said: "I gave Bolan and Vitale match misconduct: for continuing to fight. As they would not stop fighting. would suggest you suspend these two players."

Judge lludson said Bolan was given a three-game suspension Nov 21. He finished serving it Nov. 27. Four games later saw him draw another match misconduct. "Appar- ently the first three-game suspen- sion failed to teach him a lesson."

"Monday's match misconduct was the first one that Vitale received all season. However, he had been given eight 10-minute misconduct penalties this year prior to the Dec. 4 contest. g

"In addition to this a report on his conduct in Ii game between Saint John and dhariottetown in saint John Nov. 13 was filed with the league by the Saint John Dir- ector of Police. J.J. Oakes. It dealt mainly with the use of obscene language. ,

"Both the Charlottetown manage- ment and coach were shown the report and told to take such action as they deemed necessary. If a warning was given it proved in- effective for the misconduct pen- alties continued.

Phil has been given it three-game sus- pension along with Saint John Bcavers' Eddie Bolan. Viiale. who is probably the most feared dc- fenceman in the Big Four circuit will be a noticeable loss to his teammates in those next few games. Opposing forwards on the other three clubs. however, will no doubt breathe a sigh of relief to know that they won't have to contend with Vita1c's bone-crushing checks during those sessions. . a . In his statement, President Hud- son said. "It is not customary to give a suspension for ordinary 10-' minuie misconduct penalties, but eight of them. plus a police re- port. plus a match misconduct is entirely too much." So big Phil gels the gate for three sessions. The match misconduct, awarded in :he Ciharlotieiown at Saint John clash on December 4th. was Viiiileis first this season. Bolan's suspen- sion was his second three-game award this season. the present one coming just four games after the first one. Referring to Bolan's sec- ond suapension. The terms of the suspension will keep Viiale out of action in the game here tonight against Beavers, the Saturday night game at Hai- ifax and the next Monday game against Moncton which will be Is- landers home game that is being played at Amherst. Therefore Phil will be back in uniform again Tuesday in the clash here against Beavers and Wednesday's exhib- iiion t-ilt with Sydney Millionaires of the Cape Breton.League.

"I attended the large hockey meeting in the Legion Home. Some days before the meetlnz

"The fifteen names selected were duly balloted upon by the shareholders present and the eight directors appointed strictly in accordance with the Club's Act of Incorporation. Under the terms of the Act such a general meet- ing has the power only to elect the eight directors specified in the Act of Incorporation: and it is then the function of the direc-

Malie Plans I For Islanders Game Al Amherst

At an Executive meeting of the

Islanders Hockey Club held at the Forum Test evening. plans were fin- sllzed for the holding of Islanders home game against Moncton Hawks next Monday night at Amherst, N. S. It was decided at the meeting that a special bus will be arranged for the trip and that some 15 seats on the bus will be available .to local hockey fans who wish to make the trip with the team. The bus will leave this City in time to make connections with the 4:30 boat from Borden in iihe afternoon. and all persons wishing to reserve seats on the bus are advised to contact the Forum for their reservations.

The three-game suspension of defenccman Pshil Vltale was also discussed at the meeting, and Dr. F.C. Dougan, Islanders Club Pres- ident, informed the meeting that he hrd beensin contact with Judge J. Elliott Hudson. Big Four Presi- dent. by telephone concerning the lifting cf Vitale's suspension for to- night-is game against Saint John here. The reason for the request is because two other Islanders' de- fcnccmen. Larry Travis and John- ny Duchak, will both be sidelined Y0? tonight's game. leaving the lo- cal club under strength in that de- partment. It looks more and more as if the Mathason-schurman Juniors are going to grab the hockey spot- light in Summerside this. winter. In spite of the loss of Paul and Layton schurman who have gone

to Sussex, the junior manage- ment is going right ahead with its plans. Punt Oatway, smart young defencem u from Borden, will be with the squad. we hear. and ii. player named Brsoken at the R.C.A.F. station in summer- slde is also rumored to be trying for a place on the team. Donnie Simmons is another addition to the squad. Three or four of last year's Kinsmen Midgets, who cap- tured the Maritime crown, are re- ported to have decided to by-pass the Juvenile division and play junior hockey. It will be interest4 ing to see how these youngsters make out in fihis leap-frog ex- periment of theirs.

Frankly, we'll be surprised if this aggregation knocks over any club of any importance in their rush for provincial and Maritime honors. But there's no reason for the backers of the team to be particularly discouraged becauseof this. We've absorbed some terri- fic surprises in the past. and this
