When The Guardian made this state-

“Gopericn, Sept 6.—The Town Coun~ cil of Gederich heid a special meeting last night, and struck the name of James Farr off tbe list of those who will act as deputy returning Officers at the bylaw vote of $10,009 on September 28th. When the arrapgemenis for voting on the by~law were made, Parr was named as a deputy in ac- cordance with ao understanding that the statute provided for the nomination of the same officers, in such cases,as bad acted at the Just previous election. In view of the subsequent developments concerning Farr, howe ver, the Council deemed it advisable to take his name off the list,not only on ac- count of his connection with the West Huron election scandal, but because his general character was not such as to make him a desirable official. For these reasons action Was taken last night in the matter.

“ The Council is not Conservative, but is equally divided in politics, not inciuding the Mayor, and only two members voted against the resolution to replace Farr by spother man.”

It thus appears that the Town Council of Goderich especially interfered to strike the name of James Farr off the list of returniog officers, and thatthe majority of the Council] is not Conservative as The Guardian has stated.

In view of incidents such ag these, the Guardian continues to prate fromtime to ime, about its “independence.” The conduct of The Guardian shows that it is, on the contrary, blindly partisan to the Liberals in office
