Island Red Cross Given Merit Medal

In making the presentation, Dr. Waldheim voiced the grati- tude of the Austrian government and the Austrian people to Ca- nada, and stated that his nation will never f orget. Canada’s help during the hectic months when more than 200,000 Hungar- ians flowed into Austria.
He praised the work of the Canadian Red Cross medico-so- cial teams, and thanked the Ca- nadian Red Cross for the relief supplies sent to the Austrian Red Cross. Dr. Waldheim told his audience again that Canadian aid was among the foremost sent‘to Austria by nations throughout the world.
