Figaro Thinks France Will Stand out for Equivalent.
Panis, Oct 26.—M.de Blowitz, the Paris correspondent of the London Times in a letter on the Fashoda situation to the Matin explains the intensity of the Eng- lieh fellingin the matter of reconquering the Soudan as based upon their thirst to avenge Gordon, “Majer Marchand’s pre- sence in the midst of their exultu- tion,” he says, “is like @ cut with a horsewbip. England does pot aim to mortify Marchand, but she resents an oblique blow aimed at a cawpaigh which has been openly conducted. France is ready to march at the dram-call, but l am con- vinced that tke call will not sound, What is Fashoda to France, compared with ite value to England? Incase of war we should be fighting to keep Marchand in Fesboda when in truth he has already de- parted ”
The F.garo deciares that thera is not a single statesman worthy of the name in Europe who believes of the possibility of a conflict between England and France. “When England finds an equivalent for Fashoda,” the paper adds, “the trouble will no longer exist.”
The Lobster Commission.
LunessurG, October 26.—The fiasner~ men who appeared before the lobeter com- missioners here agree tbat *the size limit thould be fabolished and all lobsters should ve caught. excepting of couree ,seed lobsters. They all stated that the present, law relating toseize'was not carried out and might as well be abolished. They con- tended that if the size limit were aboiish-~ ed the law prohibiting the catching of the seed Jobster would be generally ob- served. Many suggested the idea of issu- ing licenses to lobster fiehermen on Mr Baker’s plan, swearing them to observe the law respecting seed lobsters. A pro- posal to increase the size limit to 104 inches. was unanvimously opposed. Ii was sgreed that this would eatirely end the lobster business in this couoty at least, as less than 10 per cent of the lobaters caught were, 104 inches. There was a diversity of opinion as to the close season. A majority were of ihe opinion that the Open season should commence April Ist, instead of January lst, and end June 15th. Two lobster packers were present, and in every respect concurred in the views of the ishermen. Anysiz: limit law for exportation was disapproved of.

The European Governments take con~ siderable interest in the matier because itis pretty well known that if Italy with- draws from Massowah, Russia will seize that port and hold it againstall comers including Abyssinia.
