Inverness and Victoria, doubtful ; Antigonish, Yar- mouth, Shelburne, King’s and Richmond, have gone Grit by very small majorities.

SERLIN, Sept. 16.

The debate was opened in the Reichstag to-day on the anti-Socialist Bill. Herr

teicheasplogein, Ultramontane leader, de- clared himself opposed to the bill, but said that his friends would net meet in a purely negative spirit, and he wished to have it referred to a Committee.

Herr Bebel (Socialist) denied that there was any connection between attemptsagainst the Emperor's life and Socialism. He de- clared that Socialists did not desire the ablation of property, but only its modifica- tion. ‘Count Von Enlaburgh showed that Nobling had declared himself a Socialist. The Socialistic press had defended him and had approved of murders in Russia. Herr Bambeges (Liberal) supported the bill. He thought Herr Bebels’ speech an incontro- vertible proof of the necessity of taking measures against Socialism. He desired that the bill, however, be united in_opera- tion to a certain time and be otherwise amended. He moved that it be referred to a committee of twenty-one members. The debate was then adjourned.

A Pesth dispatch says it is firmly be- lieved there that a treaty will be concluded whereby Servia, in consideration of a sub- sidy of 259,000 roubles monthly, under- takes to maintain 400,000 men on the Al- bania or any other frontier that Russia may appoint. ad

A Vienna dispatch says it is clearly in- tended to erush the resistance in Bosnia by overwhelming masses. It is rumored that one-half of the Austrian army will be em- ployed. ;

- Another Vienna dispatch states that Be- reks on the Save is being bombarded and it is hoped will surrender to-morrow.

Russia has urged Austria to declare the annexation of Bosnia.

Boston, Sept. 16.

The reports from the fever stricken States this morning are of a more hopeful character. The record during the past twenty-four hours shows an encouraging de- crease both in the number of deaths and

The opening of the new winning at ‘“‘ THE SYDNEY MINES” and the fact that the SYDNEY COAL now being shipped is all from the DEEP taken in connection with re. cent improvements in the process of screening, affords purchasers a positive guarantee of the very superior quality and condition of the SYDNEY COAL now offered for sale.

It is a well-know fact that for many years past the prices of other Cape Breton coals have been regulated by the rates fixed for SYDNEY COAL; but while it is true that other coals, to get a sale at all, have been pressed on the market at various prices under the current rate of SYDNEY COAL, it is no less true that, taking into account the superior lasting qualities of SYDNEY COAL when compared with other Cape Breton coals, the advantaye, both as to economy and convenience, is in favor of SYDNEY COAL, even at a muel higher price.

The General Mining Association (Limited) regret that they should again have to caution the Public against the attempts being made from time to time to induce them to buy in- ferior coals purporting to be ‘* EQUAL TO SYDNEY,” ““SUPERIOR TO SYDNEY,” ete., etc., while some yet more unscrupulous vendors have not hesitated to advertise their coalas SYDNEY COAL (from some designated locality). All these efforts to sell coal by such means are only so many admissions on the part of those who make them of the sran paRrb character of SYDNEY COAL.

It has come to the knowledge of the Asso- ciation that in frequent instances parties giving orders to truckmen and others for SYDNEY COAL have been furnished with other and inferior coal. The Public are cautioned against permitting themselves to be imposed apon in this way.

Every vessei loaded at THE SYDNEY MINES is furnished witha certificate of the cargo being Sydney Coal. Parties purchasing should satisfy themselves hy demanding the production of this certificate.

The ** Sydney Coal” is registered under the laws of the Dominion, and unauthorized parties using the Trade Mark *““SYDNEY COAL” are hable to prosecution.
