P. ‘Townsend’s Sarsaparilia, that you are agent for, by seeing it advertised, and! after using two bottles found immediate relief, and am now_able to attend to my work as usual, I sincerely believe it has been the means of restoring me. | have also been afflicted with the Piles for the last seven years, and when I began using your valuable Sarsaparilla to my astonish- ment I was cured.

Townsenn, of the City| of New York, do make affidavit that | “Lam no relative ofold Jacob Towns- hend—am not, nor have l ever been, in! any way connected with him in business. | I have known bim only as a Street Pedlar of Maps and Cheap Publications, until about two years since, when he was hired by some unprincipled men to lend the fraudulent use of his name to confuse and distract the public mind, that they might pirate the property which I pos- sessed in the Reputation of Townsend's Sarsaparilla, which had cost me thou- sands and tens of thousands of dollars. “fn a suit which [ brought against this Jacob Townsend and Thompson, Skilman & Co., the firm by which he was employed, the so styled old Doctor recently made affidavit that he had no ioterest. whatever in the Sarsaparilia to which his name is affixed, and asks the court to let hini off on that ground. “furthermore, 1 am the sole author and discoverer and tne original proprietor ef the medicine known as *‘ Dr Tewnsend’s Sareaparilie.” LT have never offered old Jacob Townserd a penny for his recipe, but "was. engaged in manufacturing the Compound Extract of Sarsaparriila for newly eight years before he or any one else, taking advantage of the great popu- jarity of this medicine, undertook to counterfeit either the article or the name.”

duct of a mixture of mineral. sub- stances known to be the best non-conduc- tors of heat as well as the mest indes- tructible; the Chemical affinity of which, converts the surfaces of materials covered intoa Coahng of Actual Slate—Proef' agains’ Free and Water. Thus the laws of nature are made to accomplish results, as surprising as they are useful, by rendering wooden fabricks as durable as Brick or Stone, and less impervious to moisture, and-c uently prevent- ing decay and destruction from corroding influences hitherto supposed unattainable. The principal ingredients are Alumina, Silica, and the Oxides of Iron. The ad- hesive quality of the latter, not only binds but attracks the particles together, but the substance covered also. e lon exposed to the weather the more power- ful the attraction; and consequently the harder the Slate, As various shades of colour are obtained, Briek Buildings may be made impervious to moisture and the

ures them from Galvanic action, so fatal to lead and other Paints on Iron work— and their chemical combination makes it impossible that any change should take place from atmospheric influence or the action of Salt Water and Sulphurated hydrogen, so prevalent in Sea Ports and tidal Harbours. They surpass al! Paints yet discovered in Cheapness and Durabi- lity, which render them preminently ad- apted to the Covering of a}! Lindsof Jron- work, such a8 Shipping, Mills, Bridges, Steam Machinery, Railway Cars, and Iron Railing. The Metallic Paints have been analysed by Professor Hays, of Boston,

For covering Metallic Ware, its com- position shews that it is eminently fitted.

Directions.—4rtificial Slate : Mix the powder with pure Boiled Linsed Oi! and a little Spirits of Turpentine; to the con- sistency of very thick Paint, and apylying with a common Brush, being careful to keep the mixture well stirred while put- ting it.on. One pound will cover ten square feet with two coats.

The Metallic Paints are mixed and put on like an ordinary Paint. JOHN ROSS, Patentee.
