New York, Dec, 12.—The great bicycle race closed at. 10.15 iast night with Miller eading by 67 miles. His score was 2093 miles and 40 lape, against the best previous record for 142 hours made last year by Hale. He gets $1,500 for his week’s work; Rice, 800; Schinner, $500, Hale, 300; Wailer, $300; Pierce, $200; Golden, $150; Gennor, $125; Euterman and Rivierre, $100 each and Elkess, $5. All the riders | who covered over 1350 miles will probatiy | get $50 each.

Daath of a Conductor.

Sacxvitte, N. B., Dec. 13—This moroing, at 8 o'clock, Charles Thompeen, of Middle Sackville, a special conductor on the I. C, &., was killed in the railway yard here. He was between two cars looking to the coupling and fell into a cattle guard his neck reating on the rail. One car passed over him nearly severing the head from the body. Aa inquest is now being held. He leaves a wife and two smal] children.
