The P. E. Island Cases.
Txe Supreme Court has reserved its judgment on the P. E. Island cases. By the way, isn’t it pitiful to see Mr. L. H. Davies and his three followers depending for their seats in Parliament upon the strength «f a few technival objections { The strongest of these objections is that the petitions were (necessarily) served in Ottawa. Ifthis objection be sustained, a boodier, Grit or Tory, may in future buy his way into Parliament ; then slope off to Ottawa ; and there snap his fingers at those who ask that the provisions of the law be enforced against him. The man who
raised this ubjection is certainly a * stand- ard elevator ” ! The Premier and Mr Chepleau.
Some of the Oppositionists are surprised to learn that Mr. Abbott proposes to be leader of the Government de facto, ani all are confident that his refusal of the de- mand that Hon. Mr. Chapleau shall be Minister of Railways is fraught with disas- ter to his Administration.
