Wednesday afternoon duo lo a very heavy rein storm-.~As usual our et- tcndances were large. in fact Thurs- day. August 16th. set up a new re- cord when exactly 10.000 persons paid admissifln. Visitors from the Meritimes and other paths of Can- ada and the United States weie present in large numbers.

We wish lo acknowledge the assistance given us. vy the Prince l-Idvvard Island Travel Bureau and our City (Jerks Department in find- ing accommodation for great num- bers of these guests. We also ack- nowledge with grateful thanks the efforts of our hotels, restaurants and varies and the ve-ry splendid co-operetion of our citizens and householders as far away as Sum- merside in providing accomodatlan. Through their splendid efforts most of our visitors were well looked after.

Provincial Live Stock Exhibition and Poultry Show

This was one of the most out- standing ever held in the Province and- the number of entries showing was limited only by the uccomodn- lion available. Every stall in every building was crowded and it was a sight worth seeing to view~- the handlers preparing animals for the show ring. Here the spectators had ample evidence of the work and training necessary for successful show competition.

Interest in the judging was not confined to exhibitors but spread lo the spectator; who crowded the various show rings and ixaiohed with intelligence the placings in the different sections and classes. Not only was the seating capacity taxed to the utmost but at the horse ring hundreds of men. women and children crowdmi the fences to view the animals and judging. This keen interest shown by the public

Weird, head of the poultry divis- ion for the Pmvinua, and Frederick Driscoll of the Experimental Farm. They pronounued the whole exhibit an evidence of the progress made by the poultry breeders. The New Hampshire breed was an especially good exhibit, The outstanding bird was a. Bawed Rock Cock, owned by Hebe-r McPhall. New Haven. The poultry industry has been a greet source of revenue to our Island and the Exhibition management was pleased indeed to provide such comfortable quarters for those en- gaged in it and thereby bncougage them in their very laudable work.

A particularly gratifying feature of it is the judging room which has been so widely and favorably enm- mcnted upon by experts from other provinces of Cutizldn and the United States. The fox show of i945 was one of the largest. in many years and the beautiful new building evoked complimentary remailzs from those who attended. The upwards of 500 foxes included silvers in various rolorihgs. white faces. plat- Lnums. and some of those exhibited would without doubt if brought in competition with the whole world have gone to the top.

The death of Mr. Jame: Brown. superintendent of the electrical connections of the Association, was another bad blow. Mr. Brown had been some 25 years in charge of tho work and was responsible for nil the lighting including the stage lighting which is rather lrvritaie. By his careful attention to detail not one single hit of trouh'e was ever experienced.
