This Atlantic eurrent is a most impor- tant one to usIs anders. It is composed of a branch of the Gulf Stream united with «spur of the Labrador current, and enters the Gelt along the southern shore of New- foundiand, It proceeds northwest as far as Anticosti Island, completely subteuding ‘he Belie Isic current and tercimg it to \-Ke » submarine course in the deep sound ings of the Gulf A branch of -his A - I ntic current bends svuthwea: by the Magdalens, washes the Norih Shore of P. Lawrence, and by the low temperature |of the Boreal current which presses down close to the eastern shure of the Continent. ; But if our springs are late our autumns are ‘mild and open, and our summers tempered from the same reason, viz. : the expanse of | water around us

A further proof of the dependence of our climate on continental influence is afforded by the fact that the Bureau at Toronto is able to furnish us daily probanilities of the weather for the Maritime Provinces. This is only done by a knowledge of the stmosph ric movements going on over the whole contivent.

If, then, our climate is dependent upon those great cusmica] and continental agencies which determine the movements of the atmospheric ocean which wraps roand our globe, it strikes us as not likely to be much ffected by any alteration which we could make in the flow of an insignificant s ream like Belle Isie current.
