In charge of the program Ht the next meeting will be Mrs. Ruueli Macneth and Min Edith Mae- Donald. Mrs. Garnet Moore ex- tended a gracious invitation to the members to meet at her home in the month of March.

A penny sale was held by Mrs. Ruaeli Maohetth, the winner be- ing Miss Rena MacDonald. A numiberofarticlu were passed-into the Red Cross convener, Mrs. Cecil Campbell, such articles being two tunics; one overalls; and four sweaters.

During the entertainment portion of the evening a contest was put on by Mrs. M. J. Munro which was won by Mns. Lawrence Stuart. A cake auction was held of the articles passed in by the members on their arrival at the meeting. with Mrs. Webb Nicholson doing a marvellous job as auctioneer. Manv lovely and delicious cakes. cookies and jams were sold which netted a small sum for the Institute funds. It was decided that another sale would be held at the next meeting of a small article. such as a potholder.

LAKEVIEW WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

.."I'he monthly meeting of Lakevlew Women's Institute was held on February 3rd at the home (if. Mrs. Livingstone Rose. Lake- ville.

Tire meeting opened with the singing of "Juanita". followed by the Creed in unison. Members answered roll call by telling what Country they would like to visit and why.

Minutes of the last meeting read and adopted. The school committee was re-appointed. It was moved that dust-bane be bought for the school.

Correspondence was read by the secretary. 815.00 was voted to the Relief Fund for flood victims in Europe. The Red Ci-as secretary was present and distributed sewing among ime members.

The programme consisted of a Vegetable contest by Mrs. Harold Hunter. A Soap contest by Mrs. Genevieve Campbell. instrumental music by Mrs. Hudson Mon-ow. I reading by Mrs. Livingstone Rose and a question box.

The meeting closed with the national Anthem next meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Harold Hunter. roll call to be answered by "My 'favo'r'i'tc school booins."

Eleven members and two visitors were present. Collection amounted to 31.70.

STERLIN-G. W. I.

The members of Sterling Wo- men's Institute were entertained at the home of Mrs. Elmer -Fyfe. on Tuesday. February 10th.

The president. Mrs. E. Fyfe. pre- sided. The meeting opened by sing- ing an old favourite song and re- peating the creed in unison. Eigh- teen members answered roll call and one visitor was present. who later joined the Institute.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and busi- ness arising out of minutes was dealt with. The reports of the school and sick committees were heard and new ones appointed. Several members exprmed thanks for treats and flowers received. It was moved and seconded that all treats for sick in the district would not exceed one dollar.

Correspondence was read and discussed. Collectors were appoint- ed to collect in the district for the Red Cross. It was decided to send 35.00 to help finance the ex- tension services. and 55.00 to the entertainment committee of the A. C.W.W. The secretary reported that 5301.07 was on hand at pres- ent time. '

It was decided to hold it card party on Thursday. February 12, from which A nice sum was real- ized. The following committees were appointed:

NORTH GRANVILLE W. I. '

The regular monthly meeting of the North,Granville Women's Institute was held at the home of Mrs. Borden Folland on Wed- nesday evening February 11th. with the president in the chair, the meeting was opened with the Institute Ode followed by the Creed in unison.

Roll call was answered by 11 members and one visitor. The minutes of the last meeting were read. approved and signed.

Proceeds from the card party amounted to 538.69 and bills paid amounted to 38.11. It was decided to have a card party in Hall to help the Holland Flood Relief Fund. A nice thank-you letter was read from Mrs. Theo Taylor for a gift from members.

An interesting program was put on by Mrs. Percy Howatt and won by Mrs. Fred Taylor.

The March meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Orville Tay- lor. New committees for March meeting are: school - Mrs. Em- merson Matheson and Miss Gladys Burgoyne; program - Miss Gladys Burgo ne. Roll call is to be ans- wered ith "A subject most import- ant in school and why." The re- freshment committee will be Mrs. Emmet-son Matheson, Mrs. James Taper and Mrs. Orville Taylor.

Collection amounted to 31.20. The meeting closed by singing the Na- tional Anthem. A dainty lunch was served by the hostess and com- mittee in charge.

The monthly meeting of the Tryon women's institute was held February 9th at the home of Mrs. Austin smith. The president. Mrs. Sheldon I-lowntt. presided and the meeting opened with the Ode and repeating of the Creed.

Ten members responded to roll call. and two visitors were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The school committee reported that a pencil sharpener had been purchased for the junior room. also the bell for the school.

A letter was read from the De- partment of Education stating that the sum of 3100.73 was available for the Tryon School District. A letter from Mrs. Henderson was read thanking the Institute for 55.00” sent for a Christmas treat

from the matron of the orphan- age thankim: the Institute for the crib quilt which was sent in.

The contest rules of the compe- tition for the crest were read. The project of having short courses made available to each district in- terested was discused. It was moved by M. R. Gamble. seconded by Mrs. Austin Smith that 85.00 be sent to help make this possible.

No reports were presented from the Red Cross or sick committees. The school committee reported that two books are needed fnr ilv senior room. This was left till next meeting. .

The February meeting of the Crapaud Auxiliary of the W. M. B. war held at the home of Lorna "' ” ' with the, president pre- siding.

The theme of the worship pr!- grazn was "The Sacrament of. the Lord's Supper" and nslsied of the humn "The Church's one Foundation" scripture reading by Ruth MacDonald and Bertha Trowsdale. and a prayer from the monthly. read by the leader.

Chapter five of the study book was dealt with very capably by Mrs. Lorne Higgins assisted by several of the members. This Chapter gave an insight into the church of Christ in Angola.

Roll call was answered by 11 members. Minutes were read. and offering received. The literature secretary gave out two books to be read and was authorized to order more. The report of the "ways and Means" committee was given by Lorna. Nicholson and received the approval of the members.

Plans were made for the Day of Prayer service. An interesting re- port of the presbyterial was given by Mrs. Frank MacDonald. after which a delicious Lunch was served by the hostem.

CORNWALL W. M. S. The Cornwall W. M. S. met at the home of Mrs. Hazcn Hoxvard for their February meeting. Mrs. Daniel MacAri.hur was lead- er of the devotional period. the theme being "The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper". She was assist- ed by several other members. The meeting opened with all repeating the Lord's Prayer in Unison, fol- lowed by Hymn 164. "The Church's

S. to meet with them for the World's Day of Prayer service.

The March meeting will be left open for invitation. The hostesses will be Mrs, L. H. Drake, Mrs. Ste- wart Drake and Mrs. Harry Hyde. Mrs. Walter Boyle will be leader of devotions Mrs. Stanley Willis is to be in charge of the Study Book.

The meeting closed with Mll- pali Benediction and lunch was served by Mrs. Howard assisted by the committee in charge.

MaoLeod, The hymn "0 Master Let Me walk with Thee" was sung. The mem- bers were delighted to hear a very lovely duet "While the Days Are 901118 By” sung by Mrs. Harry MaeGregor and her mother. Mrs. Charles Vickerson. Mrs, Vickerson's sweet alto voice heard so many years in the choir. continues to bring a great deal of pleasure to her hearers. This period ended with a circle of prayer. A special feature of the evening was a re. affiliation service when the Cann- dian Girls In Training with their leader, Mrs. James Gudmore, be- came affiliated with the Women's Missionary society.

Mrs. J. M. Fraser conducted the service, with responses by the girls who then carried out a candle- l:glrting exercise to emphasize the aims and ideals of the C. G. I. T. groun. The president welcomed the C. G. I. T. into the Society and pronounced the benediction.

Refreshments were served by the committee in charge, with the members of the C. G. I, T. assist-

prayer by I. Christian woman of Angola, was given by the leader.

The president, with the use of a chart and pictures, presented Chapter VII of the Study Book - "The church of Christ in Angola." Mrs. George Maocoubrey gave a sketch of the work of Miss Edith Radley. who was designated in 1940 to Angola. Africa and offered prayer on her behalf, also remem- bering Mr. Lachlan MacLean, principal of the Indian Residential School in Portage la Prairie.

Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. Roll call was answered by a verse of a favorite hymn.

A letter from the Presbyterial president. Mrs. Hazen Howard. was read by Mrs. Ralph Burdett. who also read a letter from the Port Worker in Halifax, acknowledging the Christmas box in which the "Busy Bee" Mission Band had a share. She said it was a joy to see the happy smiles of appreciation and to hear the "thank-yous" in different languages. Community friendship reported 16 house calls, three hospital calls and 26 cards sent.
