New, Vital Commonwealth Visualized

SYDNEY, Australia (Reuters) Prime Minister Dielenvbaker Sun- day night visualized a new and vital British Commonwealth in which C a n a d a, Australia and other nations would achieve des— tinies “so far undreaimed of."

Speaking as guest of honor of the Australian Broadcasting Commission, Diefenlba‘ker said. that in Asia the Commonwealth Would enter a new and chal- lenging phase of its long develop- ment. He said the task was to see that its peoples met the chal- lenge of the present and future wiun wisdom, jud g in cut and unity.

Good international relations, he said, depended upon good per- sonal relations between leaders.

Diefenlbaker and his wife. at- tended morning service at the Central Baptist Church here Sim— dvay, accompanied by the New South Wales conservation minis- ter, Ernest Wetlherelil.

The many friends of Mrs. George Bruce. Kingsboro, will be sorry to hear that she has been. a patient in the Souris Hospital. All hope to see her out and around again real soon.

Mr. Alvin MacDonald, South Lake, was a recent visitor to Charlottetown where he was the guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace MacDonald.

The heartfelt sympathy of this community goes out to Rev. H. R. Bell and members of the fam- ily in their recent sad bereave» merit. The death of Mrs. H.R. Bell occurred at her home af- ter a comparatively short illness. She was in her 80th year. the funeral which was held on- De- cember lst was very largely at- tended and was conducted by her pastor Rev. F.W. Mollins, as- sisted by Rev. Bryer Jones of New Glasgow Christian Church.

Mr. Charles Robertson accom— panied by his mother, Mrs. Ed- ward Robertson, and his aunt, Mrs. Harry Bruce, were recent .visitors to Charlottetown where they visited with Mr. Edward Robertson, who is a patient in- the P.E.I. Hospital.

Mr. George Campbell. Rollo new. is I patient in the P.E.I. Hospital where he has recently undergone surgery. Hlls friends and acquaintances in this vic- inity hope-to see him much im- proved in health.

Friends and school mates of little Miss Marilyn Garrett, Elast Baillie. will regret to hear of her illness and hope to see her out again in the near future.

Mrs. Robert Robertson, Kings- boro. was a visitor to Charlotte town recently where she was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Adele Glover and family.

Cst. Robert Bell, Mrs. Bell and family returned to their home in Halifax after attending the fun eral of Mrs. H.R Bell which was held from the United Baptist Church, Kingsboro on December lst.

Miss Berdie Coffin, Kingsboro, met with an unfortunate acci- dent in Souris not long ago when she happened in the path of a stone that had been fired care— lessly. A wound on her head re- sulted which required several stitches. All her friends and

Old man winter is starting off on a rather severe note for this time of year. The high wind which accompanied the heavy rainfall on November 29th. was the worst to hit this part of the Island for some time. Many win- dows were blown in and one far- mer had the misfortune of los- lng his barn roof.
