Orrawa, Sept. 12. In the House of Commons yesterday proposed amendments to the Controverted

} Elections Act occupied most of the day.

In che Senate Premier Abbutt said that no communication had passed between the Government and the Government of Que- bec; but the Governor-General had re- ceived a communication from the Govern- ment of (luebec, which he had transmitted to the Dominion Government.

Senator Miller immediately gave notice of an address calling for the correspon- dence.

‘The Senate railway committee yesterday adopted a report on the Pacaud-Mercier railway steal.

Investigation into the charges against Governor Schultz were concluded yester- day, and resulted in his complete exonera- tion, the whole charges being shown to be absolutely without foundaiion. Mr. Mul- ock having announced that he had no more witnesses, Governor Schultz called on him to make a formal statement of exoneration. Funeral Obsequies of Rufus McDonald.

QuesBrc, Sept. 12.

The remains of Rufus McDonald left by yesterday's afternoon train for Charlottetewn. The coffin containing the body was wrapped in a Union Jack and borne to the steamer on a guo carriage drawn by six horses, pre- eeeded by a firing party of ‘‘B” battery and baud with draped instruments. The rank and file of “B” battery and a group of officers followed the remains.
