Body Discovery Rumor Checked

SOURIS —— RCMP here in- vestigated two reports yester- day that the body of missing Souris fisherman Thomas Gil- bert had turn .

Nothing came of the checks, at Fortune and Big Pond, how- ever, and RCMP are planning to continue the search today.

Apparently the only hope of recovering the body rests in its rising to the surface 'and ﬂoat- ing ashore, where searchers are constantly keeping their eyes open. Medical authorities have indicated that after drowning a body will float to the surface within a week or so.

Apparently when the constable first went underwater in his diving gear he was unable to locate the car because the mov— ing tide had moved it. Waters were muddy at the time.

Then yesterday afternoon Constable DeWitt found the missing machinery and it was raised from the water deeps.
