| Murder Case Is Pending

SAINT JOHN, N.B. (CP) — A |man who gave himself up to po- |lice is being held here in connec- , ition with the bathtub death of a |28-year-old mother of four.

Detectives have withheld the man's name but he is expected to appear in court today.

Mrs. Irene Gibbons’s body was found in hér water-filled bathtub 7 about 10 a.m. Thursday and de- tectives say foul play is suspect- ed. Two delivery men are said to have made the discovery. Po- lice rushed to the house on north-end Cannon Street after the + |man now being held walked into ‘police headquarters. An autopsy was held but the cause of death was not disclosed.

The Gibbons family, including three boys and a girl, occupy a ground-floor flat in a three-story frame house. The four children, ranging in age from four to 11 years, were taken*from an up- stairs apartment to be cared for, jby relatives.
