Meat Exports.

‘Lhe export of dressed meat from the United States to the English marixet, which reached large proportions two years ago, but was temporarily sus* pende in consequence of the increasing shipments of live cattle, is about to be revived ou an extended scale. The action recently taken by the British Government to check the exportation of cattle from that country, has pro- duced its natural effect. Large dealers in cattle and beef have given up ex- porting live cattle, and again turned their attention to the export trade in dressed beef, anda new system of re- frigerating is being put into action, whereby the necessity of using 1cé on board the steamships will be done away with. It has been found, through nu- merous trials in exporting meats, that they must not be frozen, but only kept at a temperature which will delay des composition, The new system is said to be perfect. The cooling process 1s produced by means of corapressed air, which can, if necesary, be reduced in temperature even below zero, It is eXx- pected the fresh meat trade to Great Britain can be revived to its former magnitade, and even exceed it.

There are three handsome lady phy- sicians in Aurora, Lll., and it is quite common to hear citizens say: ‘I don’t feel very well; I guess I'll step over and see the doctor.’

A sergeant of the marine corps is about to lead to the altar the daughter of an [ndian chief, Sitka Jack. The bride having paddled alongside the “ Alaska” with her light canoe loaded with fish, the gallant sergeant Was im- mediatcly smitten and fascinated.

A Mrs. Fuller, wife of the manager of A. 'T. Stewart & Co’s Chicago house, and daughter of Mr. Beckman, a well- known real estate agent in New York, was chloroformed and robbed in one ef the principal streets in Mont Clair, N. J., Sunday evening.

A St. Louis despatch of the 9th inst. says, ‘the weather was intensely hot, the mercury ranging 96 to 99 degrees in the shade. The city ambulances were called the first time this season. There were several cases of sunstroke, twelve cases been reported. None were fatal.’

John Cox, 2 brother of Mrs. Hull’s murderer, is to be a candidate for the iegislature in Chesterfield county, Va., in the autumn, having been defeated by only fifteen votes last year; and it is added that he is supervisor df schools and a worthy man.

The Socialists of Chicago boast that they cast 12,000 votes, and that they can seize the city and hold it captive at any moment. ‘They hold frequent and uproarious meetings, drill ostentatious- ly, parade in public,’and talk loudly of the brand and the bullet.

Wes.eyvan Trust Propraty. — The English nonconformist bodies are rapidly accumulating fuods in the form of endow- ments, Ata meeting of Wesleyans, held in Park street Chapel, Bolton, in May last, it was said that the value of trust property belonging to that body in the dis- trict exceeded the sum of $600,000, and it is estimated that the total value of the trust funds of the Wesleyans in England amount to nearly $50,000.000,
