The remains of an Indian were lately found em- bedded in ruck salt, four feet below the aurface, in the immense salt field near Salt Springs, Neva- da Territory, completely.—The body was in a complete state of preservation, and from auppear- ances had lain there for urany years, perhaps for ages. The flesh was perfectly dry like that of a muiminy, and it was evideat that it had been per- fectly saturated with brine, which prevented its decay.

It contained thirty-seven men, and from its wreck thirty-six were taken out dead, only one man escaping with his jife by falling between the platforms to the earth. Three o! the care in al) were totally destroyed. Some of the bodies were shockingly mutilated, heads eumpletely crushed, bodies transfixed, impaled on timbers or iron roda, or smashed between the colliding beams. Of the soldiers killed sixteen were Federals and forty- four Contederates.

Having obtained * cefreshments for man and beast’ wt each of the above places, we pursued our journey 'o Margate, the hoine of the * Prince Willian” Division, which we had the plea- sure of meeting. Here we enjoyed a“ good time,” from the fact that other \wo Divisions were there represented, viz., * |’rimce Consort,’ No. 62 and * Praternal,"’No.74.
