Heavy Foat,—-Mr. H. B, Smith’s foal by Royal Harry, out of his small McInnis mare, which took first prize at the Provincial Exhibition, is growing very _ rapidly. At the time of the Exhibition he weighed 496, he has now increased to 572— a heavy weight for a cart foal, but extra- ordinary for a well-bred one.

Nova Scorta Mintye.—The Trades Journal says itis rumored about Stellarton that an English company coatemplates the erection of a blast furnace or furnaces in that locality. The ore is tobe brought from the East River and smelted there. ‘J he Halifax Company are erecting a crusher at McGregor pit, Stellerton. The machine comprises a number of iron rollers which move in opposi rections, and so arranged that all the coal wn between them is made uniform size, The coal thus crushed is to be used in coke-making.
