But the matter was not left to inference. Sir Louis Davies came home from Ottawa at the close of the session of 1896, and he held a meeting in the Market Hall, on the 80th of April, 1896. The following are

No one will now say that the existing tariff, readjusted by Mr Fieldiaog,is not a protective tariff, a3 practically and really as it was a protective tariff in 1896.
