NASHVILLE, Tenn. (APl—A mistrial was declared in the James Hoffa conspiracy trial and the judge has ordered an investigation of what he termed attempts by the team- ster president's close associates to influence the jury.

e dramatic end of the nine- week trial came shortly after noon when the federal jury reported-«for the time——it was hopelessly dead- locked. The jury deliberated 17 hours.

After the trial E. P. Horn of Nashville. one of the jurors. said the deadlock was 7~5. He declined to_ say whether the balance was for acquittal or conviction.
